In this lecture and demonstration class, you will learn how to buy and sell items using eBay, the world’s most popular online auction website. Some of the many topics covered are creating an account, checking reliability of sellers and buyers, online safety, and much more. No registration necessary. All are welcome to attend.

Scavenger Hunt

August 5, 2013 @ 6:30p.m.

First the teen volunteers will lead children going into grades 2-4 in a simple craft. Then they will go hunting for clues and objects in the Children's Room. Children will be divided into teams and each team will win a prize.

Robotics-Young Adults

August 6, 2013 @ 6:30p.m.

Learn how to build a mechanical solar powered model robot.

Ancient Artifacts

August 7, 2013 @ 7p.m.

Children going into grades 3-6 will learn about the archaeological process through a simulated dig activity. Collect data and piece together an ancient "artifact". Registration begins July 29. A representative from the Long Island Children's Museum will present the program.

End of Summer Reading Party & Author Visit

All participants are invited to a not-to-be missed party. Partygoers will be joined by noted author S.J. Rozan. Participants of the program who are patrons of any of the four libraries will have a chance to win one of a number of prizes, including a Kindle Paperwhite and gift certificates for goods and services graciously donated by our local businesses.

Summer Bus Trip

August 28, 2013 @ 9a.m.

A Day in the Hamptons.

We will begin our day visiting the Hampton Classic Horse Show in Bridgehampton, then time on your own in the town of East Hampton. The bus will make a stop on our way home at a local farmstand. The fee for this trip is $23.00. Registration begins July 10 for Merrick residents and one guest. Non residents July 24. Checks only-Payable to Merrick Library-No Refunds.
